Embodying Boundaries After Betrayal Trauma
Betrayal trauma undermines your entire worldview. This intensive retreat has been created specifically for recovering partners. We will work with you, step by step, to help you feel safe in your own body, listen to what it tells you, and reintegrate your body, mind, and emotions towards healing and wholeness. In a small-group setting with others doing the same work, you will feel your way back to the shores of safety, self-worth, and self-trust. Physical methods drawn from diverse sources, from ancient Chinese qigong and martial arts to modern Somatic psychotherapy and neuroscience, will complement deeper group instruction about the biological and emotional realities of addiction, abuse, danger awareness, and the power we already hold within ourselves to grow and heal.
Join us for 7 days and 6 nights in private, luxury accommodations just outside of Annapolis, as we gather together to unpack our stories and learn to connect our lived experiences with the sense data our bodies give us. Practice taking up space, setting limits, honing and trusting your own judgment, and sitting in our shared vulnerability as we learn together, work together, and simply spend time in the company of others who actually understand what we’re going through.
The week will begin on Sunday, late afternoon, with a welcome dinner and time to get to know each other. Each weekday will include not only learning and group work in an informal classroom style, but also a significant component of physical methods that help re-center us in our own bodies. We will build a better toolkit for experiencing, understanding, and responding to our own unique experiences of life. While not extremely physically demanding, the intensive actively integrates movement and body awareness into all aspects of teaching. Each day will also include group meals and unstructured personal time, so you have a chance for processing, relaxing, and maybe some games in the on-site private pool or tennis court. Finally, on Saturday morning, we will end with a group breakfast and closing ritual, as we transition back to “normal” life.

Event Facilitators
Will Hooper
Will Hooper has been training in conflict resolution, group problem-solving, and interpersonal dynamics since 1998, through the unusual lens of martial arts and Chinese qigong. He has been able to teach and apply those skillsets in environments ranging from frontline disaster relief work to union negotiations, for groups ranging from high school students and homemakers to firefighters and emergency response teams. He particularly values working with marginalized communities and groups not historically associated with martial arts. He lives with his family on a small farm in rural eastern Connecticut, where he spends as much time as possible swimming in the river.
